We know that being new to Flagstaff or coming off the rez to a place like this can be quite a change. If you're a freshman in college, this can be even more challenging. We want to invite you to a place that is warm, safe and family like at Onetribe. If you're native or a minority, you might feel really comfortable with us.
I'M TRADITIONAL IN THE WAYS OF MY CULTURE, BUT CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?
Yes! Please come. We understand that being a Native American can be challenging. The environment in University life is so different than a lifestyle that is rooted on a reservation. Being around people who will encourage and help you will better your chances at overcoming issues that could be too overwhelming to face on your own. Onetribe wants to love you for who you are, providing opportunities that you could miss on your own. Being in college is hard enough, don't turn away a helping hand because that hand could be your ticket to graduation.
I'M NOT NATIVE AMERICAN, CAN I STILL COME?
Yes, of course! We would love to have you. Diversity is something that shows the creativity of our God. We simply aim for Native Americans because so many of them are facing struggles that many people do not have to go through, and yet, there isnt a Native American ministry on so many campuses. However, our material is for people who want to know more about God on many different levels, so anyone can come. We have students who are Native American, African-American, Asian, Hispanic, and Caucasian. Any ethnicity is welcome to come, as we are all one people in the eyes of God. Onetribe cares more about who you are.
I'M NOT CHRISTIAN, WHAT DOES ONETRIBE HAVE TO OFFER ME?
Onetribe is a Ministry group that focuses on living out the Word of God. We understand that in order to have other people see the reality of what we believe, we must first become a living example of His love using our day to day lives. We understand that we are no where near perfect in anyway. We actually understand that we are so messed up that we need help, that is why Jesus is our Savior. We simply want to love people around us, Christian or non-Christian. We aren't a group that will "shove the Bible down your throat." We have a separate group that actually has discussions on who God is. We challenge each other with great questions, always maintianing a great sense of respect. We go over many different questions and teachings that help explain life's toughest questions. The goal of the discussion group is not to the preach or to convert anybody. The goal is to simply lay the facts before the group, enabling them to make a choice on what they believe. The best part about what Onetribe has to offer are the great, life-lasting friendships that will be developed. :)
